We use words to communicate ...

More than mere emotions ...

More than Twitter ...

More than tweets, as in a bird's mating call ...

If we communicate with mere emotion ...sure, we could perhaps also find a mate.

But, though emotions are very important ...there is meaning beyond the emotions that we may presently feel.

Words are not just expressed for the present.  They have been formulated through much of our past, and have much bearing upon our future.

Words can pass from generation to generation ... passing on emotions of hate, or hopeful encouragement and forgiveness.

Words can be healing.

Why do I feel obliged to add anything to this??

Well, let me give you an example.

I walked through the woods on a pleasant summer day, picking blackberries.  I got scratched several times by thorns ...the largest berries having the largest thorns. But, the wire fence made the deepest scratch on my leg. I washed with soap and water, put peroxide on the scratch, then applied triple antibiotic ointment.  This procedure has been the recommended one for warding off infection.

But, what I felt was aiding in healing ...was actually causing the problem.  A doctor said that after many years, people often get immune to the antibiotic ointment, then actually become allergic to it.  So, what they feel is to help them, harms them.

Claiming that the best way to establish an overall good is to allow everyone to be independent ...free to choose any moral standard, and deciding individually according to our whims (whether intellectually based, or by majority consensus), is not something that has never been tried.  Sadly, we learn little from our mistakes.  And the harm is usually never fully realized until it becomes nearly unmanageable.  And yes, I have an example of this also.
