Okay, my example ...of course, you would anticipate that I'd get around to the Bible sooner or later.

The example I'm thinking of is in the Book of Judges.

Yes, it is the Book where it reminds us multiple times ...that the people did what was right in their own eyes.

Chapter 19, begins by saying there was no king in Israel in that day ...and they appeared to listen to the judges when things got beyond what they could bear, but afterwards they began not listening to them again.

There also seems to be a parallel in the 19th Chapter of the Book of Genesis ...that perhaps we are more familiar with. Most of us recall that Sodom was not a nice place ...and if you need to refresh your memory, reading that Chapter can quickly bring back the intensity of those horrific events. And there seems to be a striking resemblance with the events described in Gibeah, an area of the Benjamites (Book of Judges, Chapter 19).

What the Levite man did at the end of the Chapter is beyond imagination.  Many people today would agree with how horrific it is ...yet, many of those same people don't consider how even more horrific is something common amongst today's people. Others had killed the woman (as described in this 19th Chapter), and then he cut her up to send a shocking message to the people who ignored the commonplace activity that had led to her death.  Yet, today, we cut up a live person in the womb of moms ...calling it women's rights.  That is unquestionably worse ...but, we defend it by doing what is right in our own eyes.

It is clear that ...if we don't glorify God, and look to the correct image of Him that He gave us, we instead elevate self.

We need words to stand against this sort of thing being possible. And the only words that put things in proper perspective ...is the Word of God.

We need to teach others to find the meaning and truth in life ...and to offer them words of hope.  But, it cannot be a false hope.

There are those who distort the truth.  The main group of people who do this ...are atheists.  They associate themselves with a more scientific group called evolutionists.

Yes, I know there are some who say they are Bible believers who say they also believe in evolution.  If you hate offending anyone, then perhaps you find more comfort in committing to a belief that incorporates many beliefs ...and you don't offend anyone, while they don't insult you.  But, I cannot see how evolution and the Bible can be compatible ...at all.

Some people, including some of our Founding Fathers (in America), have taken a deist stance ...proclaiming that God created a basic universe, and then stepped back, letting it take care of itself.  Of course, that means that we have the burden of taking care of our world (in a sense beyond what we are expected to do, reaching absurd standards).  When I read the Bible, I see a very personal and personable God. Yet, I also see our loving God ...as righteous and just.

Those who don't see God as personal and caring, perhaps are still humming that tune in their head, of that lyrical attitude of ..."What have you done for me lately?"

There is also a mindset that seemingly believes that things are being withheld from us.  And it appears that part of that thought process enticed Eve to eat the fruit of the Tree of Knowledge of Good & Evil ...so that her eyes would be opened. In this case, she did not do what was right in her own eyes, but in the eyes of the devil.

Yes, words can be deceptive ...

Words can be those of constant complaining ...

But, words can be words of repentance ...

Words can be edifying, and encouraging ...

And with words, we can accept Jesus ...

Those are mighty words ...
